Who Is This Person?

Matt Forney, also known as @realmattforney on Twitter/X, is an American writer, editor, journalist, and podcaster originally from Syracuse, New York, and currently based in New York City. He is prominently associated with the alt-right, manosphere, and white nationalist ideologies, advocating for traditional gender roles, anti-feminism, and opposition to 'White genocide.' His Twitter account was created around March 2012 and was banned from December 2015 to August 2023 due to violations of platform policies, likely related to hate speech. Since reinstatement, he has been active, posting provocative memes, cultural commentary, and political satire. Recent activities include hosting the 'Society of Sensation' podcast and YouTube series reviewing retro video games, writing on his personal website, and engaging in online debates on topics like race, gender, and immigration. He has attended events like the 2016 Republican National Convention as part of alt-right circles and has been criticized for inflammatory rhetoric.

How Credible Are They?

25%
Baseline Score

Matt Forney's credibility as an author is low, primarily due to his deep entrenchment in extremist ideologies and history of platform bans for hate speech. While he positions himself as a cultural critic and game reviewer, his output is heavily biased toward far-right narratives, lacking objectivity or reliance on verifiable sources. He excels in niche engagement within echo chambers but is widely discredited by mainstream and anti-extremism watchdogs for promoting divisive, unsubstantiated views. Suitable for understanding alt-right perspectives but not as a reliable source for factual information.

Assessment by Grok AI

What's Their Track Record?

Forney's content is largely opinion-based and satirical, with a history of promoting unsubstantiated claims about race, gender, and politics, including predictions like a 'white baby boom' post-2016 election tied to Donald Trump. He has faced multiple platform bans and criticisms from organizations like the ADL for white supremacist associations. No formal fact-checks or corrections are prominently documented, but his work is often labeled as extremist propaganda rather than factual journalism, with low historical accuracy in objective reporting.

NEW: a reader from Connecticut shares job listings for tech positions from local newspapers that they intend to fill with Indian H-1Bs. None of these jobs can be applied for online. If you want to become a Senior Data Analyst for Black and Decker, you have to pick up a copy of the Sunday paper. This is intentional. These companies advertise jobs only in the paper---which nobody under the age of 75 reads---solely because they're legally required to post the job SOMEWHERE before they can hire H-1Bs. Since nobody applies---because nobody reads the paper---they can then go to the government and be like, "We couldn't find any Americans for the job! Pretty please give us Indians [which we'll pay pennies to and make them work 18-hour days]!" We need new federal regulations to stop this. It's a clear fraud being perpetuated on the American people. @USCIS @USDOL
